There’s the guy who wants to get rid of Mountain Brook

“There’s the guy who wants to get rid of Mountain Brook.”
It’s a bit unsettling, but that’s what a prominent Mountain Brook man says to me every time he sees me.
If you follow his logic, then you would assume I also would be the guy who would like to get rid of Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Trussville, and every other Jefferson County municipality. Continue reading There’s the guy who wants to get rid of Mountain Brook
Mtn. Brook, Homewood, Vestavia wannabe gambles & loses

Rarely do you have an opportunity to read an article that clearly shows why we’ve had virtually no job growth in our metropolitan area.

Mountain Brook, Hoover, Homewood, Vestavia Hills show leadership

I’m almost shell shocked.
I was flipping through the pages of the Over the Mountain Journal, when I saw the headline, “Hitting on all cylinders—Mountain Brook Mayor Welch Lays Out His Plans for 2018.”
The mayor of Mountain Brook, as you might expect, discussed his efforts to help Mountain Brook merchants and restaurants.
But then Mayor Welch, a longtime financial executive, went off in a completely and unexpected direction. Continue reading Mountain Brook, Hoover, Homewood, Vestavia Hills show leadership

We got a surprising amount of push back from our blog post: “Why We Escaped the Mountain Brook Bubble.”
Some people thought that we were picking on Mountain Brook.
Others accused us of hypocrisy.
Still others said we are both “Pollyannas”.
This started us thinking more about whether folks in Mountain Brook really do live in a bubble. Continue reading Do folks in Mountain Brook live in a bubble?

Take one look at me and you’ll see a normal 24 year-old-girl standing before you.
Take another look and you’ll most likely notice a 9-inch scar running down my chest. It’s a constant reminder to me that I should never take anything for granted – not even the little things. It’s my battle scar showing others how hard I have fought for life.

The letter everyone in Homewood & Mountain Brook should read
Birmingham and Atlanta were about the same size in 1950.
Have you ever wondered why Atlanta grew and Birmingham stagnated?
In 1959, the Mayor of Atlanta sent us a letter spelling out how Birmingham could be a great city.
We paid no attention.
